I would appreciate advice:
Planning to cross the white mountains in two days between Omalos and Ammoudari late September, I would like to stay overnight at Katsiveli. According to EOS in Chania the main shelter is available only to groups with an EOS guide. Are there groups staying at the shelter during this season? If yes, is it possible to join a group?

Hi Omri,

I would advise phoning them and asking if there is someone around. There are few groups in the shelter - but you might be lucky. Apaprt from that, you can use the emergency shelter.

I have just checked their website: There might be a group in the evening of next Saturday, 21/09.

Relatedly, do you think it likely that there would be other people hiking on the e4 and staying at Katsiveli in this season?

Hi Omri,

I do not expect that you will find many other people on the E4 path in the White Mountains - maybe on the section between Omalos and Katsiveli but it is quite unlikely between Katsiveli and Askifou.
